A few are listed below.

Janardhana Swamy Temple at Varkala is believed to be two thousand years old. The current structure of the temple dates back to the 12th century. The deity of this temple is Lord Vishnu and Hindu pilgrims come here to perform final rites for the deceased. Getting there: 3 km from Jayna Homestay.

Papanasham Beach is located 50 m from Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. A dip in the Papanasham sea is considered holy. A remarkable feature here is the long stretch of red laterite cliffs fringing the beach. The cliff-top is an ideal place to watch the spectacular sunset. The Sivagiri Mutt campus sprawls over an area of 200 acres and you will surely be attracted by the distinctive multi-tiered white terraces of the mutt, once you enter there. Situated at an elevated plateau, the mutt is considered sacred. It is here that the social reformer and sage Sree Narayana Guru breathed his last in 1928. At Anjengo, one can find the remnants of the old English Fort, which was targeted several times by other foreign powers, who were at that time fighting each other to get a firm footing in Kerala. The Fort is now under the protection of National Heritage Monuments. There is also a cemetery inside the fort, which most probably would be having the remains of the occupants of the fort, and the oldest among the burial sites dates to 1704.
